For Fall 2022: Evaluate Legislative Activity

GOVT 2305: Evaluate the legislative activity of the 117th meeting of the United States Congress.

In 1000 words (at a minimum) I want you to evaluate the activity of the 117th meeting of the United States Congress.

This assembly is composed of the 435 people in the House of Representatives, and the 33 members of Class 2 in the Senate, elected to office on November 3, 2020. They first met on January 3, 2021, and will met until they are replaced by the members of the 118th Congress on January 3, 2023. These members will be selected by the appropriate voters in the election of November 8, 2022.

You may proceed in any manner your choose, but I prefer analysis over opinion.

GOVT 2306: Evaluate the legislative activity of the 87th meeting of the Texas Legislature.

In 1000 words (at a minimum) I want you to evaluate the activity of the 87th meeting of the Texas Legislature.

This assembly is composed of the 150 people in the House of Representatives, and the 15 members of  the Senate, elected to office on November 3, 2020. They first met in regular on January 12, 2021, and adjourned after 140 days - as required by the Texas Constitution - on May 31, 2021. They then met in three special sessions called by the governor, and have been limited to attending the occasional committee meeting since then. They will then be replaced by the members of the 88th Legislature which will be elected to office on November 8, 2022, and convene January 10, 2023.
