For Fall 2022 - 2023 mini semester: Legislative Priorities for Interest Groups in Texas

What do interest groups in Texas hope to accomplish during the 88th Session of the Texas Legislature?

This past November, the voters of Texas selected the people who will hold office in the Texas House of Representatives and Texas Senate and meet in regular session from January 10 - May 29 next year.

The Monday following the election, members-to-be were allowed to begin filing bills to be considered when business begins in January.

The specific bills are not necessarily that important to all people in the state, but can be very important to certain constituencies. Certain interest groups are very interested in whether some of this legislation passes or is defeated. They are in the process of determining how they can achieve that goal.

The purpose of this essay is to first highlight the specific bills that are of interest to certain groups and determine how those bills might impact those groups and second determine what the best strategies for those groups might be.

I've compiled a list of groups which have stated their legislative priorities for the upcoming session of the Texas Legislature, and will add to it over time. Use these for you research, but add your own sources.
