An example of primogenitor, which is prohibited in the Texas Constitution - though it is not mentioned in the U.S. Constitution.
Here's the text from the Texas Bill of Rights:
Sec. A26. PERPETUITIES AND MONOPOLIES; PRIMOGENITURE OR ENTAILMENTS. Perpetuities and monopolies are contrary to the genius of a free government, and shall never be allowed, nor shall the law of primogeniture or entailments ever be in force in this State.
- primogeniture: the right, by law or custom, of the firstborn legitimate child to inherit the parent's entire or main estate
- entailments: the act or an instance of restricting the inheritance of property to the owner's lineal descendants or to a particular class thereof.
