More Checks and Balances

In order to thwart efforts to investigate the firings of lawyers in the Justice Department, the Bush Administration prevented two officials, Josh Bolten and Harriet Miers, from testifying, citing executive privilege. House leaders have not accepted that rationale and are calling for a Contempt of Congress vote. The precise punishment is up in the air.
