Will Republicans in the House cause problems for Mitt Romney
Jonathan Bernstein thinks so. He points to the 50 or so members of the Tea Party Caucus who are unwilling to compromise on measures that the public supports - preserving Medicare and extending payroll tax cuts and unemployment insurance. Opposition to these programs proved problematic for them last year, and a refusal to seek the middle ground on these issues could force Romney's hand. Does he support the House members and risk upsetting the Tea Party, or does he side with them and risk upsetting a large chunk of the electorate?
