The Fort Worth Star Telegram reports that independent school districts in the state have organized prior to the 83rd session in order to push for a restoration of the $5.4 billion in finding lost in the previous session.
In related news, the lawsuit against those cuts continues. Schools argue that the cuts violated the mandate in the Texas Constitution that adequate provisions be made for public education in the state.
