Two Takes on the Presidency

Two recent articles highlight how Obama is performing two of the undefined roles of the president. The first is party leader, meaning that he is supposed to provide guidance and leadership for his party, The second is, for lack of a better term, savior-in-chief, where the president is expected to wave a wand and solve all conceivable problems.

In related items, what should we make of the recent spate of comments taking Obama to task for not losing his temper over the oil spill? Do they have a point, or do we want someone who can keep cool in a crisis. Or is what one person takes as cool, really indifference?
