From Wonkblog: The incredible shrinking labor force, in one chart

Here's a positive observation: The U.S. labor force is shrinking. Back in 2007, 66 percent of Americans had a job or were actively seeking work. Today, that number is at 63 percent and falling.

Here's what this looks like by age group:

The labor force is shrinking for the young but increasing for the old. These might be related. Fewer retirees means fewer job openings.
