From House.Gov: Origins & Development: From the Constitution to the Modern House

As I'm rewriting my power points I'll incorporate some of this - if not most of this - information in them. The website of the U.S. House of Representatives walks through the development of the U.S. House beginning with the ratification of the Constitution.

- Click here for the page.

It contains a variety of sections related to the parts of the Constitution that affect the design of the chamber. These are especially topic given current events:

- Speaker of the House. Since there's a move underway in the House Republican Conference to unseat John Boehner.
- Power of the Purse. Since the fiscal year is almost over and appropriations bills still need to be passed.
- Investigations and Oversight. Since its habitual for Congress to investigate every aspect of the activities of the president when one different parties control each branch.
